Tesla Motors announced on Friday that the Roadster 3.0 will be equipped with new battery packs and an improved aerodynamic system. However, Tesla Motors stated that Model S owners should not expect that the model will also have a similar upgrade in the near future: “It is expected that the new Model S battery pack or major cruising range upgrade will not be introduced in the near future.”

Tesla Motors stated that the upgraded Roadster model should be able to increase the single charge cruising range of the original model by 40% to 50%. Tesla did not disclose how much the upgrades would bring to the owner, but said it would not be the last upgrade.

Tesla stated: "With a range of speeds and driving conditions, the Roadster's mileage will certainly exceed 400 miles. We will be presenting this model in the real world in early 2015 and we will be moving from San Francisco to Los Angeles. A non-stop test drive."
